She has since trained in Ki Force (hands on healing), Emotional Release (Master Level), Massage (Swedish, Deep Tissue) and now channels this healing through her creations in Silk and Wool. Marlene practices Healing Chi Kung daily. Her greatest reward to receive feedback from someone who has purchased one of her silk creations and how they have received healing and comfort from it.
Using inks, water colours, oils, acrylics, pastels and now SILK as a means of expression, it is an on going love affair with colour, design, healing and joy. A never-ending adventure.
Training in London and Perth, Western Australia, (Degree in Fine Art from Curtin University, Western Australia) is just part of the Journey. For Marlene, silk is a magical fabric to paint the vibrancy of colour, mixing of the dyes and the wonderful sensuous feel of it is a never-ending pleasure. Recently Marlene has been introduced to fine wool fabric and again, having come from a farming background, feels it is wonderful to use this magnificent fibre in her work and create a truly Australian product.
Marlene paints a large variety of styles from merging colours to detailed design, which is available in scarves, wraps, sarongs, cushions, wall hangings, paintings and lengths of material. Scarves and wraps available on wool. You can see examples of Marlene's work on the products page.
A studio at The Royal George Community Arts Centre in East Fremantle, Western Australia, allows Marlene to create and exhibit in the Gallery. Contact with other artists with studios at "The George" is stimulating and fun.
