Old Royal George - This wonderful old building situated in East Fremantle, Western Australia, has been a focus of community activity for over 100 years. Originally built as a pub it has had several transformations, the most recent into a centre for the arts. It is home to a number of artists who have studios in the building and also contribute on a regular basis to the gallery which forms an integral part of the ambience of the place. The artists run the OLD ROYAL GEORGE ARTISTS FOUNDATION INC, a group dedicated to keeping the spirit of the arts community alive and they run the gallery and workshop. The building has recently changed ownership and is now controlled by the National Trust who intend to eventually restore the building back to its former glory. They are in consultation with ORGAF, the local business community and local residents to gauge opinions on the best usage for parts of the building.
